Repeat Dispensing

We are currently in the process of implementing Repeat Dispensing.  This is a new way of getting the medicines or other prescription items you or your child uses regularly without asking your doctor/surgery for a prescription each time.  The service is only available at present to patients who fit certain criteria (such as their medication rarely changes), although we hope that eventually all patients will be able to benefit.

It enables your doctor to issue up to 12 months’ worth of prescriptions for your regular repeat medications in advance, which are held by the Pharmacy of your choice and dispensed on a monthly basis.  If you are part of the Repeat Dispensing Scheme, it means that:

• You will not need to request your regular monthly prescriptions from the surgery as your Pharmacy will have your prescriptions ready for you.
• You will be able to contact your Pharmacy to let them know when you wish to collect your next supply of medicines.  They will then prepare them so that they are ready when you go to the Pharmacy to collect them.
