Who are we...?
General Practitioners (GPs)
We have six Doctors, three of whom are female. Sometimes they are
referred to as your “family Doctor” or the Partners. They look
after all of your general health needs, but they may refer you to a
Specialist for further investigation or treatment.

Dr Julie Denise Cretney

Dr Peter Malcolm Lloyd Griffiths

Joined the Practice in 2009 having previously lived and worked as a GP in Birmingham for many years. He qualified as a doctor in 1985 at the University of Birmingham Medical School and has many other qualifications, gained over the years since, including an interest in Primary Care Rheumatology. He is also a GP trainer.
Dr Justine Claire Needham
MBChB, MRCGP, DFSRH, DHP (Reg. Liverpool 2003)
Joined the Practice in 2009 after completing her GP training in Liverpool. Qualified in Curative Hypnotherapy and is a member of the British Association of Hypnotherapists. Currently GP Cancer Lead for the Isle of Man.
GP Trainee
In 2009 we were authorised as a Teaching Practice. We are the first practice on the Island to achieve this. A teaching practice offers fully qualified doctors, with experience in hospital medicine, the opportunity to learn about the personal, primary and continuing care of patients and families that is General Practice. They will gain a unique understanding of the management of acute, chronic, recurrent and terminal illness in both the surgery setting and in the patient’s home. The work in the surgery placement will also enable them to achieve the higher qualification of Member of the Royal College of General Practitioners – after passing the appropriate examinations.
During the placement, the trainee may treat patients as a general practitioner under the supervision of a GP trainer. Like all doctors, the trainee, known as a GP Registrar, must meet the standards of care, competence and conduct set out by the General Medical Council guidance.
Practice Manager
The Practice Manager ensures the smooth running of the Practice on behalf of the Partners.
Practice Nurses
There are four Practice Nurses. They
deal with all sorts of health issues, from dressings to ear syringing;
travel vaccinations to minor ailments such as sore throats. They
also run specialist clinics on, for example, asthma checks, blood
pressure monitoring, contraception, osteoporosis checks, smears and
smoking cessation. You can make an appointment to see them during
Surgery hours. When you do ask
for an appointment, we will usually ask what it is for. This is
so we can gauge what length of appointment to give you and also so that
we can fit you in with the right nurse, as they sometimes have
different specialist areas. One of our nurses is also a qualified
midwife, so she can look after your ante and post natal care.
Reception & Admin Staff
We have ten experienced and trained
reception/admin staff who will do their very best to help you with
whatever your query might be. However, please remember that they
can’t do miracles and they can’t “magic up” appointments that aren’t
there! The majority of our patients are wonderful, and they
recognise how difficult it is to juggle the needs of people at the desk
against the ever-ringing telephone, whilst at the same time issuing
prescriptions for the Doctors to sign and carrying out the numerous
admin tasks that are necessary to keep the Surgery going. Please
be patient with them if they can’t immediately provide what you want or
need.
